Sharon Sorrentino Casting

I have worked in the Casting Industry for over 13 years an have now cast a number of independent film and theatre productions, including award winning feature film The Journey and shorts The Chop, Crack, No Playground For Little Children and Invisible.

My current projects include various commercials, short films and the British independent WWII feature film Pegasus Bridge by the team that created award winning The Journey and various commercials and short films.

Over the years I have forged some great working relationships within the industry often collaborating with the same teams on multiple projects. It is the creative spark, unexpected ideas and large body of knowledge of British acting talent that I bring to a project that brings creative teams back.

I am constantly searching for that new face; the inspired piece of casting that can add colour to any script. Passionate about my profession, I enjoy the challenge in getting the right cast together whatever the medium, whatever the size of project.

When assisting, I worked with some of the biggest casting directors in London; for television, film productions, West End and regional theatre.

LANCE NIELSON

AWARD WINNING

INDEPENDENT WRITER

AND DIRECTOR

Sharon Sorrentino has been my Casting Director for a number of years assisting me with everything from off West End Theatre productions to short and feature films. She has a razor sharp knack for spotting new talent which goes hand in hand with her encyclopaedic knowledge of actors working today from leading men and women to a wide range of excellent character actors across all ages of the spectrum. She is hard working, friendly, approachable, diligent and collaborative in her approach to all things and  is always my first port of call for casting any of my productions.

RENEE TILLOTT

PRODUCER

iBLADE FILMS

Sharon is wonderful to work with; She understood the project intimately and worked collaboratively with us to explore the boundaries of the brief. Using her expertise and experience, she worked tirelessly to build us an interesting and trusted slate of talent to tell the story.

ALEX EMANUEL

DIRECTOR

Working with Sharon is an absolute joy. The quality of all the auditions that she has overseen has been remarkable, with a huge improvement compared with when we were not working together. She has a deep breadth of knowledge of performers and the industry and is a fantastic point of contact with agents and actors/actresses. She has also successfully cast two children's parts for us - understanding the large scope necessary to find the right kids and not stopping until the the roles were filled with youngsters we all loved. Sharon has become a key part of our production team, and we cannot imagine embarking on a project without her guidance.

LEWIS ROSE

AWARD WINNING

INDEPENDENT WRITER

AND DIRECTOR

Having Sharon on board for The Chop made such a huge difference to our casting options and the overall success of the film. She worked incredibly hard and diligently to give us a fantastic range of actors for some not so easy to cast parts. The calibre of the actors who came to audition was  fantastic, and Sharon had detailed first hand knowledge of their work and abilities. She was extremely thorough and attentive throughout the whole casting process, and worked tirelessly during the offering and contracting phase. Sharon showed great dedication to the project and really became part of our team, culminating with her visiting the actors in action on set. I would say without a shadow of a doubt Sharon will add huge value to any film - her fantastic network of contacts, amazing work ethic and positive attitude would be of huge benefit to anyone looking for a great casting process for their film.

In 2012 I was commissioned to write a series of kindle singles and then a book of advice for actors from the perspective of

the casting profession.

This became The Audition Room: A Down to Earth Guide and was published in 2013.

The motivation for me was to demystify the casting process as a whole in order to open the door to a wider body of talent and to better prepare those actors for the practical requirements of their chosen profession, when in the audition room.

This in turn will lead to directors and producers increasing the pool of talent that they can choose from.

The book is full of practical advice and tips and quotes from renowned industry professionals.

The 1st edition is currently off the shelves in the run up to launch of the 2nd edition, which is coming soon.
