As course leader at Lambeth, Miriam was an inspirational, dedicated and creatively minded mentor whose love for design shines through as a beacon to ignite and refresh young minds under her mentorship. Whether it was graphics, illustration, 3D, animation or spatial design, Miriam’s vast knowledge of design principles has always been inspirational in my development as a design student.

The best part of the course was its intense diversity. It helped develop, Architectects, Animators, Illustrators, interior designers and thats just the beginning. Miriam was a massive help with shaping us to become exactly whatever WE wanted to be. And that's what really matters.
Lekeisha Clarke, Student, BA Interior Design, Birmingham City University
When I was losing hope of getting into university, Miriam encouraged and pushed me to excel. I could tell that she genuinely cared about her students success. She was strict but fair, and allowed us to get an insight into what university would be like. At the end of the course, I achieved exceptional grades that I did not know was possible. I am extremely grateful that she helped me to realise my full potential.
Shevonne Williams, student, BA Anthropology and media, Goldsmiths
Miriam Sorrentino was my tutor at Lambeth College for 2 years. She shared her years of experience and knowledge within design, advertising and branding which helped me develop my skills and understanding of how the public think and interact. She is a wonderful tutor, kind and encouraging.

Any words to express our gratitude and admiration wouldn’t do Miriam justice. She is simply one of the best tutors we’ve ever had. We exist as creatives thanks to her and we owe her much more than a thank you, we owe her our future. Designers and creatives can be fantastic at what they do but when it comes to teaching things become different. Miriam is a rare find. She is not only great at what she does but she’s also an absolutely brilliant tutor. She has the knowledge and competence to nurture any student. Always ready to go the extra mile to help you. Extremely supportive, patient and dedicated but most of all an invaluable source of inspiration and motivation, always pushing your thinking outside preconceived boundaries. She won’t teach you tools that you can learn on your own, but something truly invaluable that few others can do as well as her: teach you how to think. This is the most important asset you will need as a creative person since the one thing that you’re getting paid for is your brain. Miriam doesn’t teach in a vacuum but with real knowledge of the outside world. You will not leave University as a student but as a professional ready to face real world challenges. We wish we could have been her students for longer.

In our efforts to successfully accomplish creative projects as students we all faced that moment of big doubt: A moment of exposing our weaknesses as inexperienced future professionals that really wanted to make it. During those moments Miriam has always been the person that you need to talk the most. Able to understand us she supplied us with full thorough feedback that later on helped us to understand our choices better, be more confident and more critical with our work, and take that step further to generate integrated, meaningful ideas.

Miriam Sorrentino was the person whose passionate and enthusiastic lectures and workshops inspired me to pursue new avenues in Graphic Design such as Advertising and Art Direction. Miriam offered great support in terms of all the projects we were set and I always felt that her creative direction kept me on track. The success of her mentorship is demonstrated by the winning of the D&AD New Blood Award 2014 for my PG Tips Cuppamates work. I feel that without her support and her assistance I would not been able to achieve this accolade.
